Melbourne Tunnel Update..

Well Des has returned from yet another successful tunnel training program this time in Melbourne for Northern Sewerage Project,

The Northern Sewerage Project (NSP) involves the construction of 13 km of new sewer from Reservoir to Pascoe Vale and is a $650 million investment in Melbourne's future.

Most of the construction taking place between 15 and 64 metres below ground. State-of-the-art Tunnel  Boring Machines (TBMs) are being used to construct a tunnel which is then lined to create the sewer pipes with a finished diameter ranging from 1.6 metres to 2.5 metres. So far Des has run three hyperbaric workers courses and is preparing to return for more training soon.

OceanTrek—Easter..
The OceanTrek Dive Vessel Jervis Bay

Now fully booked  - full trip below inside including boarding information, what to take, where to leave cars etc. Now only 5 weeks to go full payment due to Descend by 3rd April.

Boarding & General Information

You would board the boat on the evening of the charter, at a time to be arranged with you, usually between 9pm and 10pm for a weekend charter or if a midweek morning departure boarding about 9am.

Meeting place is the Huskisson Wharf.

We ask that you to contact us as you arrive at the wharf on the boat phone 0413759649.

[Phones are available near the newsagency at the top of the street]

Because of the constrains of the draft of Ocean Trek it is not always possible to pick up directly from Huskisson Wharf, only if tides and wind are OK. Most times you will embark Ocean Trek after a small run across water in an aluminium duck [small boat]. As such it is advisable to bring a spray jacket in case of rain or wind.

Cars can be left at the Bayside Motor Inn, corner of Hawke Street and Bowen Street Huskisson [see map] Please park cars at the rear of Motel close to the swimming pool. Enter from Hawke Street.

The charter prices include accommodation, linen, meals, diving, and air.  Please notify us if any hire equipment is required, as it is not stored on the boat. Dive crates are welcomed on board as we have tank racks purpose built to accommodate crates. Customers are welcome to bring on board refreshments as we have a large refrigerator. We do not have a liquor licence so please BYO. We have chocolates, chips and soft drinks for sale. We ask that when you pack your scuba equipment into your crate or bag that you do not place your weight belt into it; please pack your weight belt separately as a loose item.

As most divers do about seven dives [usually multi level], in a weekend their nitrogen absorption may be more than they usually absorb during a normal dive weekend, as such we encourage the use of dive computers for dive planning, if dive computers are not used we insist on active dive planning with dive tables.

Please remember to bring your diver certification card or log.

We have Nitrox fills available for guests for an additional cost of $11 per fill whist aboard Ocean Trek.

We have available for hire [some items are not kept aboard Ocean Trek ,please book equipment prior to boarding]

·  BCD, Reg, tank, weight belt, wetsuit, mask, fins

·  Dive computers, air and Nitrox

·  Wetsuits and Dry suits

·  Dive torch’s

·  Sony Cybershot camera & housing

Please notify us prior to the weekend if you have any hire requirements.

We serve varied meals and snacks during the charter so we need to know if you or any person in your group have any special dietary requirements or food allergies, eg vegetarian, if so to what extent, ie do they eat sea food, chicken or dairy food, or some customers are allergic to dairy products or seafood [heaven help them if they are allergic to chocolate], so inquire with your group and then please inform us.

If you are inclined to become ‘sea sick’ we advise that you bring your own medication on board. This medication should be commenced prior to boarding as per medication literature.
