Easter aboard Ocean Trek - By the Descend Group

Loose 5kg's with Descends Diet Plan...

Yes truly, it is EASTER and the weather is unbelievable. Blue skies, blue water, calm weather , no wind and clear viz.

Now back to the diet……

This weekend just keeps getting better by the dive….Last dive  (drift dived Point Perpendicular) with spectacular swim throughs and a very photographic Blue Devil.

Awesome food, great company and fantastic crew and that’s before we even get wet.

The weather gods have shone on us for this 3 day, 12 dive expedition which included 3 night dives. Lots of photos and video were taken and shared via Blue tooth across the plethora of laptops on board. Except for one video which hadn’t been downloaded and on the pickup of the 10th dive came of the wrist and found a watery grave.

A search party conducted by the crew found lots of interesting things but no Video. On the 11 dive the rest of us went in for one last look with the dry suit gang doing the deep stuff around 30m and the rest doing the usual search pattern led by Ben. After the second pass I had lost my Partner in crime and caught up with Ben & Tony for another sweep. Saw a Wobbegong on a bommie at the 19m mark and thought I’d love to have the video to capture that. As I rounded the Bommie Ben saw the Wobbie and was interested, low and behold on a lower shelf the video was staring me in the face. The exurberation and relief was beyond belief as Troy held up the camera and shouted with pure relief. Ben had kittens with the roar from Troy, as he was checking out the Wobbegong at the time. High fives were traded as the relief came over the search party.

After everyone boarded after the dive team headed for ACT/NSW boarder for the night dive. All wasn’t lost as all the guys had some great times posing for the best back flip, somersault or bomby from the top deck caught on hard drive/film that were caught on the lost now found video camera prior to the last night dive.

Well it’s been 5 years since I had the pleasure of diving with the crew on the Ocean Trek and five years too long. I want to say a big thank you to my lovely Wife Tania (AKA) Muriel for buying me the diving trip as a Christmas present, Thanks Honey.

As for the Diving, Food, Company and Weather what more could anyone else ask for, Bloody Fantastic, Awesome. Shame though so many people didn't like Bobs cooking and kept throwing up over the side of the boat to feed the fish, oh well.

A big Thank You to the crew of the Ocean Trek Diving Resort, I will be back.

Almost forgot, thanks Joy for being a good dive buddy.

Regards,  Lindsay Shaw.

Ok well this is my first live aboard and it has been the best trip great people great crew and great food. The dives that have been chosen for us have been amazing the fish life just spot on. I have seen things I have never seen before. It has just been great to get away from it all. As for the Diet Plan Terry White would be cheaper I suppose you need to know whether you get sea sick before coming on board. The last night dive just topped off an amazing Easter break thanks to every one for making a great time…Tony.

Well I don’t know who has lost 5kg as I haven’t eaten this well in weeks and I bet I’ve gained 5kg in the process. When the routine is along the lines of eat-dive-eat-dive-eat-sleep-dive-eat-dive-sleep and drop offs/pick ups are over the top of the dive site’s you’re not left with much option but to kick back and take advantage of the situation. Beautiful one day, better the next, clear water, good company and a stunning coastline as a back drop. Thanks Ocean Trek for the sea, the sun, the sights, the sharks and ah….the smells?!? (No, that last one was definitely left for the punters!)… Ben.

Second trip aboard Ocean trek and once again was not disappointed. Weather has been awesome, food was awesome (especially those hot cross buns) and lots of giggly people created a great Easter weekend. Touched my first shark which was pretty sweet and made friends with a blue groper. Will be back for more, …Elspeth and the old man Lloyd.

Expecting ordinary weather this time of year, I did what most who have them would do – decided to dive dry. My dry suit had other ideas though and before the first dive, I’d put a hole in the neck seal!! I’ve since worn another two dry suits, both belonging to others a little bigger than me and have come back wet every time. Regardless, the dives were spectacular, the staff fantastic, the food awesome and the weekend, just ace. Thanks Ocean Trek, will be back again. ..Kylie.

Well What can I say ! My first live aboard. Cheers to the wonderful happy friendly and experienced crew of Ocean Trek who were more than happy to share their knowledge and for making this dive trip such a memorable one. I will take home so many fantastic memories not only was this a first live aboard but my first experienced as a diver thanks to the great support from the club members and crew of Ocean Trek for making this possible. Such an easy going bunch to share diving with. Yes you guessed it I am HOOKED on diving. Thanks to those who made this awesome experience possible …Joy.

What a weekend!! You never know what sort of weather you are going to get this time of the year. The crew from Descend have been here a number of times, one of the regulars mentioned that its his fourth trip in seven years and the weather has never been better. It just got better each day. The diving was sensational as well. Clear water, around 20 degrees, four dives a day finishing with an excellent night dive each night. Plenty to see, Huge Wobbies, Port Jacksons, Cuttlefish (some juvenile one getting very friendly with Ben & Tony after they had done the mating dance)….. Also heaps of eels, Nuddies, rays on each dive. Great food, great diving, great weather, great crew and best of all great company which made the trip……..Unfortunately Easter is only a four day break, otherwise it would be up and at it again tomorrow. Look forward to catching up with everyone again on the reunion dive.
