Scubapro First Stage Features and Benefits

Scubapro First Stage Features and Benefits

1. Low pressure adjustment
2. High pressure seal
3. High pressure port
4. Low pressure port
5. Composite Piston

On MK25 first stages, a revolutionary patented piston using a stainless steel tapered shaft, a technopolymer piston head and weighing less than half the standard piston provides ultra-fast response. The unprecedented high flow serves the second stage and accessories like never before. The piston head also provides very high insulating properties for cold water diving.

TIS (Thermal Insulating System):
When designing a diving regulator, an engineer must bear in mind that this regulator will be asked to perform in all possible conditions. These conditions can be drastically different, such as a Red Sea or a Caribbean dive with warm water and high salinity or a dive under ice in a high-altitude mountain lake. One must remember that a regulator is a cold-generating machine like a refrigerator. To fight freezing problems, various solutions were proposed by manufacturers, such as sealed chambers, continuous bleeding systems and also grease filling.

Recently SCUBAPRO came on the market with a revolutionary patented system that efficiently fights freezing problems. This system, called TIS (Thermal Insulating System), is based on heat transfer and insulation. All cold parts are efficiently insulated by bushing inserts and special ice repellent coatings. The TIS system has successfully propelled SCUBAPRO first stages to a new level of cold water diving safety never reached before with conventional protection systems. All SCUBAPRO regulator systems include TIS and are CE approved for cold water diving. Some models go even beyond this super stringent qualification and have successfully been tested in extreme cold diving conditions at less than 35° F.

Externally Adjustable Intermediate Pressure:
Convenient and fast, the external intermediate pressure adjustment enables SCUBAPRO appointed technicians to quickly fine tune or make adjustments after maintenance without the need to disassemble the first stage. Available on the MK25T, MK25, and MK16 first stages

Safety Seat Guide:
SCUBAPRO's exclusive seat guide configuration comes on all diaphragm first stages, which ensures performance in the event that the high pressure chamber becomes contaminated with saltwater entering through the filter.

Superflow Low Pressure Hose:
The superflow low pressure hose remains flexible at any water temperature. It has the same standard outer diameter and uses thin neoprene and Kevlar-fiber hose wall reinforcement, with enlarged inner bore for optimal regulator flow performance.

Titanium:
Titanium is a metal used extensively in space exploration because of its unique properties and engineering characteristics. It's extremely light yet exceptionally strong and impervious to corrosion, which makes it ideally suited for specific dive system components. Available on MK25T and S600T systems.

HFP (High Flow Port):
The high flow ports on the MK16 first stage are two intermediate pressure outlets close to the diaphragm that deliver higher flow to the main second stage and octopus for better performance, especially at low tank pressure. On MK25 first stages, all 5 swiveling low pressure ports are high flow ports.

CE Standards
Diving equipment sold within the European Community must be tested and approved according to precise CE standards. These tests require a regulator to perform efficiently at depth, with low tank pressure and with a very high workload or ventilation rate. In simple terms, it has to work in extreme conditions.

The CE symbol can then be marked on the approved products that pass these rigorous tests. All SCUBAPRO regulators are CE approved and outperform the stringent CE test's minimum requirements, often by as much as 500%.
