Commercial Course No 58 - Week 8
Monday 26th October
Last week of our level two course and we have plenty to still fit in. A Few more days diving, more theory to complete, final exam and a big end of course clean up. Today the real fun starts – the Borocco ultrathermic cutter is a very special tool. It burns at 1200 deg.F at the tip and can cut almost anything including, steel, concrete, ceramics and marine growth. It’s the ultimate demolition tool. All students do a dry run on the surface then it’s time for cutting railway track underwater. Then it’s on to wet stick welding and all students achieve the task but much practice is needed to become a skilled welder.

We make an early start today to head to The Pit and the students get to put into practice the brocco cutting that they have learnt about this week in the classroom. They have had a dry run in the car park but now it's their chance to try it out in the water. All students do well with the task.

Still photography using the state of the art Nikon 5000,000 pixel digital camera housed in a Subal aluminum housing and using the Nikon strobe, high pressure water jet task and the dredging task are all completed. Another long day but a fun day using big boys toys.

Bright and early students arrived after a big night of study (cramming) for the final exam. The final level 2 exam incorporates not only everything we have learnt on level 2, but also everything we covered on level one. It took everyone 3 – 4 hours to complete. We then marked and reviewed the exam with everyone passing exceptionally well. After some big sighs of relief we finished the day off with maintenance and a big clean up. Sadly we say good bye to Zack, Joe, Frank & Glenn. Hopefully we will see them again to complete further training.
