Dartmouth Dam
Dartmouth Dam is approximately 115km south east of Albury. A delightful scenic drive into the mountains finds you first at Dartmouth village which boasts one hotel with great counter meals. Take the signed road to the boat ramp, its the only access to the lake and is about 10km past Dartmouth Village. The boat ramp has toilets, barbecue and a public phone. Mobile phones don't work in this area.
The lake is very picturesque and in real wilderness country. The maximum depth is 140m and a boat is needed to get the best of the sites. I have dived Dartmouth when the visibility was 15m and it makes an excellent fresh water dive. Lots of submerged trees and cold water. Great trout fishing here. This is an altitude dive with the lake at 486m above sea level. |
