Khancoban Pondage

Khancoban Pondage
Freshwater Rotifera

A two hour drive via Tallangatta to Corryong, then take the Khancoban Road and pass through the township and take the road marked power station. The best dive is where the tail race empties into the locke.

This is a man made channel in the floor of the lake and has the highest concentration of crayfish (Eustaesis armatus) that I have seen.

On one dive for the Freshwater Research Centre, we collected, tagged and released, over 200 crays.

Good clear water, average depth level about 7m, however dependent on lake levels.
