Murray River
Lots of sites here. Current, temperature and visibility are largely dependent on the outflow from the Hume Weir. Depth varies and is generally 2-3 metres, however holes can be up to 10 metres and boating traffic can be a real hazard as can submerged trees.
The real fun is in finding old bottle sites. Rubbish tips and old homesteads are good places to start. I particularly like the area from Norieul Park, down past the old wharf located behind the Albury Swimming Pool and the old tip site around Eastern Hill. This can be done as a current drift, however be aware the P.S. Cumberoona runs in this area.
Corowa is also an excellent site. Start at the reserve at the John Foord Bridge and work down past the old rowing club or on the other side near the old mill and customs house, There are plenty of old bottles still to get. |
